Fourth Quarter Update - January 25, 2010
A note to fund holders from your Jewish Foundation of Memphis staff:
What a difference a year makes!
We are pleased to give you an overview of recent Jewish Foundation activity and share some of our accomplishments for the year.
First, strong investment performance during the second half of 2009 resulted in renewed confidence among donors and an increase in contributions to donor advised funds. Investment performance for 2009 can be accessed by clicking here.
20 new donor advised funds were established and nearly $3 million was awarded to local, national and international charitable organizations from Jewish Foundation funds.
Donors responded positively at year-end to our request for support of the Foundation and our partner agencies. Thanks to your generous donations we were able to end the year with a balanced operating budget.
Despite a strong finish to 2009, the pressing needs of our community agencies continue. Please take a look at our agency wish list and consider funding one of these projects.
Grant recommendations can now be submitted on-line!

New Investment Strategies Added to Foundation's Platform
Last quarter we announced that 3 additional investment options had been added to our platform. You may now choose an index strategy, a balanced strategy (50%/50%) and a moderate strategy (30%/70%) in addition to the original investment options. You may access more information on our investment program by clicking here.
Have You Considered a Charitable Gift Annuity?
Now is a great time to consider a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA). CGAs are a great way to support your favorite Jewish organization and at the same time receive guaranteed income for the rest of your life. Click here to find out more about CGAs.
As we look toward the year ahead we are confident that we will continue to see movement toward economic recovery; our agencies will continue to have the funds needed to provide life sustaining and enhancing services to our Jewish community; and you will continue to have confidence in the work of the Foundation.
On behalf of the professional staff and board of directors, we wish you a year full of generosity, happiness and health.
